Description

A Beam Combiner is a flat window designed to sit at 45deg. to the beam path.If mounted properly this window will transmit 99% of the your Co2 laser beam, and reflect more than 80% of the red laser beam.

Use extreme care when mounting this window. ZnSe is very soft. Light pressure can move the crystal structure causing higher reflection, beam distortion, and overheating.

beam combiners are ideal for applications where diode lasers are being used for system alignment. Designed for use at 45 degrees, they transmit the 10.6 micron beam and align it with the 90 degree reflected diode beam. Standard beam combiners are optimized for .633 microns but can also be designed for other diode wavelengths such as .650 and .670 microns.Other wavelength combinations are possible, but note that the ‘reverse beam combiner’ where the long wavelength is reflected and the short wavelength transmitted are not possible. It is possible to simulate the latter by using a normal beam combiner with additional mirrors.

Beam combiners are partial reflectors that combine two or more wavelengths of light -- one in transmission and one in reflection -- onto a single beam path. Since the 10.6 micron laser is invisible, in the actual process of laser marking, we often need to know where the focus of the laser is, so as to determine if the position of marking is correct or not. By the beam combiner, we combine the red light of the visible 650nm emitted by the diode with the 10.6 micron laser into one beam of light, so that where the 650nm red light is pointing is the position of 10.6 micron laser, thus achieving the purpose of using the red light of 650nm to indicate the 10.6 micron laser.
