Product Description
Attenuated total reflection (ATR) is a method that allows the direct measurement of samples for FTIR. ATR method involves pressing the sample against a high-refractive-index prism and measuring the infrared spectrum using infrared light that is totally internally reflected in the prism. A diamond, zinc selenide (ZnSe) or germanium (Ge) prism is used in the ATR accessory. Most ATR accessories use a single bounce design, where the IR radiation interacts with the sample only once. Horizontal ATRs (HATRs) would interact with the sample up to 45 times increasing the signal, but use a larger amount of sample.An Attenuated Total Refelction accessory operates by measuring the changes that occur in a totally reflected infrared beam when the beam comes in contact with a sample.
ATR/MIR crystal prism is made up of cut and polished germanium crystals with 45° angles. It is mainly used for the absorption of samples, which come in contact with the prism surface and this is detected when the evanescent field produced by total reflection is absorbed.

Using the laser absorption spectrum of ATR prism is a fast developing techonoloy of infrared spectrum, and it is also the most widely sampling techinques at present.
